Manistee Bridge Project

Rail Based Girder Transport

Project Location

Manistee, MI

Project Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure engaged KEE to engineer and manufacture a bridge girder transport system to move 125 ton bridge girders approximately two miles by rail to the Manistee Bridge site.

The system used two 40-ton rail cars and one 100-ton rail car connected by a custom superstructure, providing load equalization across the cars and rotational freedom to accommodate track curvature and angular misalignment.
